Infertility Immune Testing- 'Snake Oil' for Infertile Couples?

In many cases, after a couple has endured repeated fertility treatment failures, infertility immune testing is suggested. The couple is generally quite emotionally vulnerable after extensive testing, surgical procedures and drug therapy and may be ready to accept anything as a solution. Sadly this is where the opportunists of the world step in. Search infertility treatment on the internet and you will see thousands of different products claiming to help emotionally desperate couples make their dreams of a family become a reality. Although it may seem reputable, infertility immune testing is just another one of these products. Many experts agree that the test is a waste of money and does nothing but further upset the harried couple.

Infertility Immune Testing - emotionally and financially costly.

Infertility immune testing is a relatively new method of understanding why the body is infertile. Couples who have experience frequent miscarriages or rejections of in vitro fertilizations may reach a point of being desperate for answers. It's human nature to want to understand why bad things continue to happen. Unfortunately it's also human nature to want to profit off of that kind of vulnerability. The test can cost upwards of five hundred dollars. Because of it's so lucrative; the test is becoming more and more popular. Many different clinics offer infertility immune testing but because it is not established yet, there is no standard of testing. What this means is you can go to one clinic and be told your body will not accept a pregnancy and go to another where you are told you are perfectly capable. The majority of the clinics who offer the test haven't even got a clue how to interpret the end results. What's more, studies have also shown that the technology involved in this test is not reliable. In one such study a woman who was actually proven to be able to conceive received unfavorable results. This is the makings of madness. With these kinds of inconsistencies, a couple could spend thousands just looking for a conclusive answer.

One of the biggest challenges for couples dealing with infertility is not to lay blame on each other or on external factors. It's easier to deal with chaos if you can attach some sort of meaning to it, some sort of order. In the case of infertility, there simply may not be a reason why couples can not conceive. Therefore, running around spending money that could be used productively in order to find answers where there may not be any is simply wasteful. Forgo infertility immune testing. Spend the money on more reliable, creditable tests than infertility immune testing or put the thousands you will save toward starting the adoption process.
